Our Spring Training Program runs for three months (13 weeks) starting April 1st, and is open to current club members as well as any new players who are interested in joining our club. There are no try outs for this session.
Spring Training is held on our turf field as much as the light will allow and indoors for the remaining time. By mid-May we are normally on the turf for the whole session.
The program consists of weekly two hour sessions and lasts for thirteen weeks. The following evenings are dedicated to these age groups’ practices:
Under 10 – Friday 7-9 PM
Under 12 – Friday 7-9 PM
Under 14 – Monday 7-9 PM or Thursday 7-9 PM
Under 16 – Wednesday 7-9 PM or Thursday 7-9 PM
Under 19 – Tuesday 7-9 PM
The focus of the training is on outdoor Skills and Tactics: Sweeps, Lifts, Hits, Reverse Sweeps, Spins, First Touch, Deflections, Triangulation, Beating an Opponent, Tackling, Defending, Playing out of the Back, Playing through the Midfield, Attacking down the Flanks, and Circle Play – and of course specialist training for the goalkeepers.
Most Saturdays we hold 7 v 7 or 11 v 11 tournaments on our turf field for U10, U12, U14, U16, and U19 age groups. College coaches are also invited to attend our Spring Tournaments.
The players who sign up for the Spring Training are sent an “Availability Form” asking which tournament dates they are available to play. Teams for each tournament are then selected based on player availability to give every player an equal number of opportunities to play in the tournaments.
We also host College Coaching Clinic Days. We invite the coaches from some of the top college hockey programs to conduct a coaching clinic on the turf at The Training Center, each on different Sundays in the Spring. These coaching clinics are open to all players in the area in accordance with NCAA Rules and are limited in the number of participants. Registration Forms will be available as soon as the college coaches confirm their dates.Register for 2019
